Good health don’t just come to you. To have a good health, you need to eat wisely and to have proper exercise as well. Exercise makes our heart and lungs more efficient. Exercise makes our muscles stronger. Exercise also improves our figure and posture, thereby enhancing our sense of well-being.
Exercise is of utmost important in building our health. Not only is exercise good for our physical body, it is also good in our emotional health as well. People who exercise frequently will find that they are more cheerful. In addition, moderate exercise also helps to improve our life span.
Let’s take a look at the benefits of exercise in protecting us against disease.
- Relieves Back Pain. Exercises that keep spinal and abdominal muscles strong improve your posture and may prevent back pain.
- Fights obesity. Regular exercise, in combination with a balanced diet, helps you keep control of your weight. Obesity increases your risk of developing many diseases including diabetes, heart disease, and gallstones.
- Decreases Cancer Risk. Research has confirmed that a poor level of fitness can increase your risk of developing some types of cancer.
- Combats Anxiety and Depression. Frequent exercise can enhance your self-esteem and make you feel brighter and more relaxed.
- Strengthens Bones. Regular moderate exercise strengthens your bones by increasing their mineral content, thereby reducing the risk of developing osteoporosis later in life. Osteoporosis causes bones to become progressively thinner, which makes them more fragile and vulnerable to fracture.
- Reduces Risk of Heart Disease. Exercise helps to prevent obesity, high cholesterol levels, and high blood pressure.
- Alleviates Menstrual Disorders. Some women have found that exercise reduces premenstrual symptoms and eases period pain.
- Helps Deep Sleep. Exercise encourages deep sleep, as long as you allow at least an hour between exercising and retiring to bed.
Exercise is for everybody. Whether you are a kid, or you are elderly or obese, or even when you are pregnant, exercise is essential — Pregnant women who have kept themselves fit and active are much less likely to develop problems, such as excessive weight gain and varicose veins. They are also better able to deal with the physical exertion of labour.
Active children are much more likely to grow into active adults, so it is vital that a pattern for healthy living is set at an early age. It is important to cultivate the habit of exercising regularly as part of our life. Good habit are easily cultivated when we are young. All children should take regular exercise because it reduces their risk of developing heart disease later in their life. Activity produces many other benefits too. Fit children have strong muscles, which are very important for good posture and stable joints; they have better balance, coordination, and flexibility; and they are less likely to fracture bones, as exercise increases bone density.
There are many types of exercise. You can exercise to train your body for strength, flexibility and endurance.
Aerobic Exercises, Strength Exercises and Flexibility Exercises. Brisk walking, ice-skating, skipping, cycling and swimming are examples of aerobic exercises. Example of Strength Exercises is the lifting of heavy weights or small weights. The last type of exercise which do not need any apparatus and it just need your time, is Flexibility Exercise. Stretching exercises are simple and can be started by anyone at any time in their life.
A good way to start the habit of exercise is to have it as a family affair. Exercise can be made more fun and meaningful if the whole family can participate. The family can exercise together if there are exercise machines at home. Having a fitness machine such as hydraulic fitness equipment, allows you to exercise at your own home or office, at your own convenient time. In addition, with kids fitness equipments you can exercise with your children!
Regular exercise slows down the natural degeneration of muscles, tendons, ligaments, bones and joints. It maintains muscle strength, joint flexibility, balance, and coordination, keeping people mobile and independent. Anyone who develops a chronic medical disorder should attempt to remain at least as active as they were before. For numerous conditions, such as arthritis, back pain, diabetes, high blood pressure, and some heart disorders, regular exercise under guidance form a doctor can reduce the severity of the symptoms, lower the risk of complications, and slow down the progress of the disease.
