Why Use Credit Cards

By peace | May 7, 2007

Credit Card is your pal everywhere you go. You do not need to fear having No Money to pay for what you want and need when out shopping and even when you are at home.

“Nearly one in four UK adults is carrying more credit card debt than they can handle. The rapid proliferation of credit cards has caused many in the government to feel that we are becoming a nation of debtors, about to sink under the weight of too many bits of plastic.” quoted from the website MoneyEverything, finance in plain English. I mention in my posts earlier that money are just tools and instruments that people used for buying and selling of our needs and wants. So for me, they are really neutral, they are never good or bad, but it is how you going to make use of them that brings you good results or bad results.

I love credit cards. Why Do I love Credit Cards? It is not because I love to spend money. There are various reasons why it is good to have credit cards. Here are my reasons why it is useful to have credit cards:

1. Convenience
The most important reason to own a credit card is for convenience — no need to pay instant cash when you go shopping or when you go for meals in restaurants. This means that one does not need to have to deal with coins and counting dollars and cents in receiving change and giving out payments to the cashier! This saves a lot of time and brings a lot of convenience. In addition, credit cards are good when we want to charge a big payment like paying a few thousands for a TV or notebook etc. If a person do not have credit card, then payment need to be made by cash or NETs. Keying in the pin number in front of the cashier is another thing which I do not like. If there is a credit card, it would save all these hassle.

Another convenience credit cards can bring is during the bad weather days, where you want to order home deliveries service such as KFC or Pizza Hut. You don’t have cash at home. It is a weekend and you want to eat at home, but you do not want to cook. It is raining heavily outside. But the problem is there is no cash at home! Pizza Hut or KFC deliveries accept credit cards! So you can eat and pay later! But I do not have credit cards. That brings so much of inconvenience. I cannot order these food when I do not have enough cash at home.

2. Saving Money
Owning credit cards can help to save money. We heard many people with debts with credit cards, but the same cards can help to save money, depending on how you use it. Nowadays credit cards have more benefits than ever before. Shopping with your cards can allow you to have discounts at different outlets. When you charged your bills such as electrical bills to your cards, there are rebates too. What’s more, for people who really take up too much loans, there is balance transfer. Balance transfer can save in paying more interest to the banks.

Very often if you dine in restaurants, at the end of it when we need to pay the bills, there is always coins of one cents, five cents, and so on to be taken if you are paying cash. Many people are too shy to take these bits of money and what they normally do is to ‘donate’ the money. However, with credit cards, you do not need to ‘donate’ the money or to give ‘tips’ to the restaurants. You just pay the exact amount, all you need is your signature.

Everything in this world has its pros and cons. Credit cards have its bad side if you are not discipline, and if you do not know how to manage your finance. With proper use, credit cards can save you money and brings you a lot of convenience. It is your good companion when you go shopping, socialising, traveling or even for your business. It is your pal in your wallet!
