Feelings For Pets Loss

By peace | June 26, 2007

When your beloved pets die, allow yourself to feel sad and loss. Grief is a normal response to a normal occurrence, yet each person experiences it differently. Learn as much as possible about the process of grief. It helps you realize that what you are experiencing is normal. The most important is to be honest with your feelings. Do not deny your pain, or your feelings of anger and guilt.

You have a right to feel pain and grief. Your pet, your best friend, your companion, has died, and you feel alone and bereaved. You have a right to feel anger and guilt as well. Acknowledge your feelings first, then ask yourself whether the circumstances actually justify them. Do not be surprised or feel guilty if you cannot or have not cried. Feelings are natural and will take their own course.

Accept the feelings that come with grief. Pushing grief away does not make it go away. Express it. Cry, scream, kick the wall, pound the floor, talk it out. Follow your heart. Do what helps you most. Do not try to avoid grief by not thinking about your pet. Instead, reminisce about the good times. This will help you understand what your pet’s loss actually means to you.
