Emotional Traumas

By peace | July 23, 2007

Anger makes energy rise, joy dissipates energy, sadness dissolves energy, fear makes energy descend… Shock scatters energy and worry knots energy.

The impact of emotions on our lives can vary according to the timing of the events. Events which took place in our childhood are likely to affect us more deeply than later traumas. Children between the ages of five and nine who are experiencing the threat of loss within their family have been found to have an increased risk of diabetes and other serious illnesses.

Traumas which take place later in life can also have a huge impact but don’t usually go quite as deep as childhood events. The death of a loved one or the break-up of a relationship, for example, are shattering ordeals. These events are difficult to deal with but will usually heal over time if the person allows them to and gets the support they need.

Some emotions are more short-term than others. Feeling angry with our spouse for being late or a meal is one thing. Long-term, bottled-up anger after continued mental or physical abuse is very different. It is easier to deal with emotional traumas in the present, then we will not have as many stuck emotions in the future. If we clear the anger out of our system then we don’t bottle-up more potential ill-health in the future.

When we respond negatively to a situation, our energy can become blocked or travel in the wrong direction. Once we express how we feel or get over the incident, our energy is restored to its normal flow. Finding ways to keep our Qi flowing smoothly throughout our system will allow us to be physically, mentally and spiritually balanced. We can then deal with any crisis or emotional upheaval more easily.

[...] I am definitely not leading a balanced life. My emotions are not balanced and this is a major cause of diseases.  Everyday I have so much resentment and anger arises from parenting issues as well as housekeeping issues.  I am not surprised that my health is deteriorating.  I am spending more time working than relaxing. I have hardly any time for laughs. Luckily there is World of Laughs, the channel 8 show at 8pm on every Monday evening. The most funny and hilarious person in the show which I always look forward to is the old woman, Lao Zha Bo.Just got to know recently that she did not write the blog herself. She don’t speak good Mandarin nor English. But so what! She is being frank and whoever behind writing, this is honesty. As what some people claim she is disgusting, I don’t think so. Who are we to comment on people’s look and behaviour? No human is perfect. The pot is always calling the kettle black, almost everywhere we have politics as such.  Just got very tired of this mundane world. [...]
