Peaceinspiration Icon

My peaceinspiration.com icon is up. I upload it yesterday. It was on my mind a few days ago that my icon for peaceinspiration.com blog will be a candle, with a flame.
What you see above is my final icon for peaceinspiration. Why I choose a lighted candle, burning with flame as my peaceinspiration.com icon? Why do I choose the candle and not a light bulb or a fanciful lamp? The reason is very simple, candle is used traditionally in homes to light up the house when there were no electricity. For a lamp or light bulb to work, you need electricity or the kerosene, the fuel to provide energy to light up the light bulb. Without electricity, you still need to use the candle. There are times where there are power failure. You still need to have candles at home, though you have the convenience to switch on the light with just a click on the wall nowadays. Even so, we also see stores selling various kinds of candles and disposable candles. People use candles not just when there are power failure. In places where there are no electricity, such as the parks, gardens and for camping, candles are lit to bring lights as well as to create a soothing and romantic atmosphere for fine dining. In spa, in the bathroom, candles are lit, to bring spiritual calmness and create a sense of relaxation for people ’soaking’ in milk bath or flowers bath.
The candles, our ‘ancestor’ of light, is not to be forgotten. It serves so many purpose. Though scientific technology is so advance now, there are so many fanciful and beautiful lamp, I still can remember how the candles can help to cease our fear and calm our mind when there are electrical failure in our home. In darkness, what we have is fear and we cannot see anything at all for a moment, when we enter darkness suddenly. We need time for our eyes to adjust. After sometime, we might see something, but they are black images around us.
The candles are used in other purposes like that of religion. In Catholic, the candles are often used in churches. No Christian Services can be held without the use of candles. A big candle was lit during baptism. During Good Friday, and most of the celebrations, the candles are used too. During Halloween, the candles are placed in hollow pumpkin. During lantern festival, candles are used in lanterns. For prayers, and for respecting the dead and honouring the dead, the candles are used too.
The candles which is made of only a wick and wax, is a simple object but yet serves humankind with so many function and of meaningful uses. The candles can come in various colours, from white to the colourful colours of yellow, red, pink and blue. Depending on types of celebrations or function, different candles are being used.
The candle’s flame has always been a metaphor for the soul! It possesses a tranquil and almost hypnotic atmosphere to those who allow its power to take them to a very special place. To pray to the dead, and to honour our God, we used the white candles. The buddhist uses the red candles. For romantic dinner with love ones, the pink candles might be used. For spiritual calmness and peaceful meditation, white candles are often lit as well. The candles are often used in aromatherapy where heat is needed to ‘release’ the special fragrance of the oil into the surrounding air. Coloured candles have a more meaningful significance than simply a decorative value. The various colours have a great influence upon our health, thoughts, and actions.
The candle flame brings light. Light is a symbol of God. Light is the symbol of goodness. The burning flame of the candle brings consolation, inspiration, and peace of mind. May Peaceinspiration brings light to your life. It only takes a sparks to get a fire going. It only needs a candle to light up the whole world.
