How To Control your emotions to strike an emotional balance:
Seven Emotions - Internal Causes of Disease
1. Joy
Excessive joy is harmful to the heart for two reasons:
i. Energy of the heart produces joy. Excessive joy consumes heart energy, which leads to deficient heart energy.
ii. Excessive joy relaxes the heart to the extent that the heart cannot focus on its activity, which impairs the capacity of the heart to function effectively.
To Reduce Joy:
a. Fear and shock overcome Joy. It helps to eat more salty food, which act on the kidney to reinforce fear and shock.
b. Worry and sadness reduce joy. It helps to eat more pungent food, which acts on the lungs to reinforce worry and sadness.
2. Anger
Excessive anger is harmful to the liver for two reasons:
i. Energy of the liver produces anger, and excessive anger consumes liver energy, which leads to deficient liver energy.
ii. Excessive anger makes liver energy rise up to the head, which may cause headache and impair the capacity of the liver to function effectively.
To reduce anger:
a. Worry and sadness overcome anger. It helps to eat more pungent food, which act on the lung to reinforce worry and sadness.
b. Thought reduces anger. It helps to eat more sweet food, which act on the spleen to reinforce thought.
3. Worry and Sadness
Excessive worry and sadness are harmful to the lungs for two reasons:
i. Energy of the lungs produces worry and sadness, and excessive worry and sadness consume lung energy quickly, which leads to deficient lung energy.
ii. Excessive worry and sadness can cause abdominal pain and swelling and impair the capacity of the lungs to function effectively.
Reduce Worry and Sadness
a. Joy overcomes worry and sadness. It helps to eat more bitter food, which act on the heart to reinforce joy.
b. Anger reduces worry and sadness. It helps to eat more sour food, which act on the liver to reinforce anger.
4. Thought
Excessive thought is harmful to the spleen for two reasons:
i. Energy of the spleen produces thought, and excessive thought consumes spleen energy, which leads to deficient spleen energy.
ii. Thought causes congestion of spleen energy, which impairs the capacity of the spleen to function effectively.
To Reduces Thought:
a. Anger overcomes thought. It helps to eat more sour food, which act on the liver to produce the needed emotion of anger.
b. Fear and shock reduce the intensity of thought. It helps to eat more salty food, which act on the kidneys to produce the needed emotions of fear and shock.
5. Fear and Shock
Excessive fear and shock are harmful to the kidney for two reasons:
i. Energy of the kidneys produces fear and shock, and excessive fear and shock consume kidney energy, which leads to deficient kidney energy.
ii. Fear causes kidney energy to move downward, and shock causes a chaotic condition of kidney energy, both of which impair the capacity of the kidneys to function effectively.
To reduce fear and shock:
a. Thought overcomes fear and shock. It helps to eat more sweet food, which act on the spleen to reinforce thought.
b. Joy reduces fear and shock. It helps to eat more bitter food to reinforce joy.
