Who are truly Blessed

These are excerpts from the Way of the Warrior, a book which I had encountered recently by chance. It may be different from Way of Peaceful Warrior, but I would still love to read the book. These are some meaningful things which should be noted:
The Lord often waits to release our greatest influence or potential until we have been “checked out” from every angle, until our motives have been purged and our attitudes aligned with Christ’s agenda.
Jesus promised that people who possesses eight counter-cultural attitudes or experiences would be truly blessed by God Himself. And He was not referring to just external blessings; people who embrace this teaching are also promised inner peace, fulfillment and happiness.
The Beatitudes are popular in concept but quite unpopular when it comes to applying them personally in our lives. They are almost the opposite of the world’s way of doing things. We cannot ignore the fact, however that our attitudes inspire our actions — a vital concept for our training as warriors. Why are these something of a secret weapon for us? Because Jesus declared that people who develop these eight attitudes will be especially noticed by God. A unique dimension of favour will be released into the lives of those who harbour these attitudes instead of bitterness, envy, resentment or other negative mental perspectives. He said that the following people are blessed:
- The poor in spirit
- Those who mourn
- The meek
- Those who hunger and thirst for righteousness
- The merciful
- The pure at heart
- The peacemakers
- Those persecuted because of righteousness
If we embrace these aspects of the Beatitudes, we can turn our world on its ear!
