Corpus Christi Procession

By peace | May 27, 2008

Walk with Christ 2008

The Corpus Christi Procession is a popular procession was already common in the late 13th century, and in a hundred years was adopted in most countries. This procession includes carrying the Blessed Sacrament, visible in a vessel called a monstrance (Latin monstrance = “to show”). In Germany, the procession even wound its way into the fields, similar to Rogation Day Processions. In most places the procession included features of a pageant with lavish decorations and flowers. It was popular to stop at outdoor altars called stations where there were prayers, songs and blessing with the Sacrament. The motive for the procession was to publicly display a personal faith in the Real Presence.

Corpus Christi Procession - All Hail The Power of Jesus’ Name

This is the Corpus Christi Procession held at St Anthony Church. It was my first time seeing and walking this procession. On Saturday when I attend the church, I was so filled with surprise with all the banners positioned at the church. I love to see these banners. They showed the jobs of the church. I wanted to take the photographs but Richard always forbid me to do so. Luckily the parish photographer took all the pictures.

It was such a grand procession. It is especially so seeing all the people holding the flag/banner walking round the church. So nice, and I always like to smell the incense. I feel so good, the feeling is like ‘opening myself up’, it is such a good feeling.
