The Way of Life

At fast food restaurants, it is always a common scene to see insurance agents or financial advisers sitting down with their clients. The most common fast food restaurants that you can see this scenario is Macdonald, any Macdonald fast food restaurants. At my neighbourhood, Burger King is another fast food restaurant that is targeted as a good ‘business meeting place’ as well (since it is located just outside the MRT station).
It is so common to see Financial Advisers showing their prospects some printed life insurance quotes. The financial advisers explained the usefulness of having life insurance to the prospects. They explained the various benefits that is accompanied by the recommended life insurance plans in which these prospects would soon take up. On other times, other aspects of the Financial Advisers are being spotted. I saw Financial Advisers sitting with the clients, not showing them life insurance quotes, but filling up forms — forms that might ‘make the prospects’ more committed into taking up a insurance plan with the company.
Life insurance are being ‘sold’ to so many people in this world. In my own country, just take the example of myself and the people around me (my family). Do they know the importance of having life insurance? Do they really know the purpose of having life insurance? Have the Insurance agents, Financial Advisers or Financial Planners informed their clients or educate them about the real purpose of having life insurance?
We see so many types of people in this world, the good and the bad. This happens in all kinds of working industries. In the life insurance industry, the same thing exist. There are so many unethical insurance agents who do not put themselves in the client’s shoes. They just want to earn money from their prospects. For these people, money ruled their hearts, not the welfare of the people. This is definitely no good.
My first life insurance policy was taken from my husband’s classmates. I did not understand what exactly life insurance was at that time. However, I still bought the life insurance from her, knowing that I would pass on some money to my family if any mishap happens to me. As for endowment policies, it would serve as a saving instrument for me. I had always thought that she was a successful agent. However, I had a change of view only after I became an adviser myself.
This agent of mine, whom I thought she was very good, had won numerous awards (during the year that I knew her)… Next, it was she who introduced me into the insurance industry… I always showed my clients the full life insurance quotes, always showing them alternatives and helping them to plan for something that is as suitable for them as possible. I never withheld any information from them. It is not about how much I would earn from them, but I treat every customer the same…. Anyway, she is no longer working in the insurance industry also…
If she is so good, if she is working in the right way, she has the calibre, then surely she should be still working in the insurance industry. But that is not the case. How many people around us, are truly successful? How to determine if these people are truly successful?
With the help of God, I am sure that I am going to find a way out. I am going to make my parents proud, my dear parents who have raised me up. The above shows a photograph taken one day before I went to ‘pay respect’ to Dr Goh Keng Swee at the Parliament House. If you have been following me, at my blogs, you should know that I am God’s athlete, and that I am holding the Torch(Torchbearer of God). This is the ignition of the torch – the LIGHT to the WORD of GOD.
