World of Wizardry
By peace | August 18, 2011
I had come across this book by chance in the library and I had decided to borrow it since I had encountered the unbelievable, about spell and magic.
I started reading this book only on 16 August 2011, despite the fact that I had borrowed it earlier. It was such an interesting book. I could not finish reading the book within one day definitely. In the daytime, I met mysterious people at Long John Silver’s. After Long John Silver’s I went to Woodlands Civic Centre (NTUC) and discovered something unusual again… At Woodlands 888 Plaza, my eyes seemed to play tricks on me… Next, in the early morning of 17 August 2011, I had water sprinkled on me. I walked out of the toilet, hold the book and discovered that the next page of the book I was going to read (next, whenever appropriate time allows) was on titled Dawn Raids, something about the door!! Let me quote the beginning:
“The guarding of doorways and gateways has always been an important part of magical protection. The threshold has traditionally had a powerful symbolical significance: It represents the boundary between belonging and not belonging, between safety and danger… ”
“The Wizard’s Book of Spells is an enchanted journey through the history and traditions of wizardry. It explores the secrets of the ancient sorcerers, the practices of medieval alchemists, and the rituals of modern magicians; it reveals how lucky talismans work, suggests tools for successful spell-casting, and resolves the riddles that surround sacred sites and ceremonial magic. Along the way it introduces the most remarkable wizards in history, from the evil sorceress Circe to the legendary Merlin — all captured in a superb series of original illustrations by Robert Ingpen. Enlightening, powerful and spellbinding, this book is the essential guide for anyone who dreams of unraveling the mysteries of the world of wizardry. ” (Published in Great Britain in 2010 by Plazzo Editions Ltd, Printed and bound in Singapore by Imago)
This book is divided into three parts: A Chronicle of Spells, Practical Magic and Spells for Different Purposes.
This book is easy to read and contains beautiful paintings. For example, in Part 1, A Chronicle of Spells, it wrote:
Wizards are as ancient as the human race. As mighty magicians, they posses the power to do what the rest of us can only dream of — to wave a wand and control the path of destiny.
History, myth and legends are rich in stories of extraordinary individuals, gifted with the awesome ability to shape our world for good or evil. Such god-like beings know no bounds. They can use their magic to travel to other worlds and communicate with spirits there. They can shape-shift into any form they desire, or render themselves invisible. They can read the future.
Wizards are as popular now as they ever were. Our favourite modern spell-casters may be confined to the world of fiction, but the dream lives on. Can you wield the ancient magic?
Exactly one year since the last Assumption of Mary. This year at Assumption of Mary, my family sat on the pew with the ‘wing imprint‘ (on the floor) again. And it was Jesus teaching me more things yet again…
